The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s. Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT. Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup. His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting. The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the fence. Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight. Hamilton ended the session in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver. The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's best. Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
